Hey Sharks fans, GM Doug Wilson has been at it again, adding another strong Defenseman and a Center capable of lighting up the goal light to the boys in teal. Starting with the defensive end, Dou signed Matt Pelech, from the American Hockey League’s (AHL) Abbotsford Heat to a 1 year deal. Matt’s size certainly fits in with the Sharks, at 6’03 and 220 pounds, the right-shooting Matt will be a force to be reckined with. During his season with Abbotsford, he only had 3 goals and 2 assists for a total of 5 points; one of his goals was a game winner. He was a -9, but don’t be too hard on him, for Matt had 66 shots on net. Even better, Matt took care of his end of the ice, as the 198 penalty minutes shows.

The second man brought to the Sharks is Center Ben Guite from the AHL’s Springfield Falcons. Ben has spent time in the NHL, most recently with the Colorado Avalanche. During the regular season with the Falcons, Ben scored 17 goals and 30 assists for a total of 47 points. He was a -12, had 2 power play goals and 2 game winning goals with 123 shots taken. Ben was whistled down for 91 penalty minutes. He signed a 1 year contract.

Our Sharks GM didn’t rest with his hunt for new blood. Doug also re-signed a few players. Andrew Desjardin, Forward, was re-signed for 1 year. You may remember I said I’d let him go. Benn Ferriero, a Forward, inked another contract for 1 year. This was a player I said I’d keep. Jamie McGinn, a Left Wing, has been re-signed for another year. This is another of my keeper players. Glad to see Jamie will play as a Shark again. Frazier McClaren was signed again by Doug to 1 year. I said I’d keep him, but place him in reserve in the AHL. John McCarthy was re-signed for 1 year, I said I’d keep him and send him down as a reserve. Alex Stalock, a goalie, was inked to another 1 year deal. As with McClaren, I said he is a keeper, but in the AHL as a reserve player.

Doug also resigned Steve Sullivan (Defenseman) and Thomas Griess (Goalie) to 1 year, two players I didn’t mention.

Someone up above is starting to listen to me, if Doug and I seem to be on the same wave length. Scary. Now I need to get working on the team’s mental health
JUST Kidding!!!

As of July 12th, only 58 days until Game 1 for the San Jose Sharks 2011-2012 regular season.

GO SHARKS!!
