San Jose at New Jersey

First, let me start with a big Happy Birthday to Randy Hahn - how old are you now?

Our boys in teal have not had the best start to the season, 1-3 to date but last season they started out much the same. Have faith my friends, with the changes to the team over the summer, this is not unexpected.

Tonight is Joe Thornton's 1000th game. Congratulations Joe. Any player reaching a 100 games in the NHL should be proud of his accomplishment. To do this in the black, white, and teal is even better! Thank you, Joe.

Martin Havlat will play for his first game in a Sharks sweater tonight. Colin White faces one of his former teams. Colin was with the Devils when they won the Stanley Cup in 2000 and 2003. Niemi will be in goal tonight and need to be on his toes to stop a red-hot Ilya Kovulchuk. Johan Hedberg will mind the net in place of an injured Martin Brodeur.

When asked about the problem of the last three games by Dan Rosen a NHL reporter, Coach McLellan said ""I know we'll have enough firepower to score with the rest of the teams in the League, so we have to make sure we're defending properly." This was in reference to the lack of goals scored. The Sharks are averaging 40 shots per games, but it is the goals scored that count at the  end of the third period, not the shots on goal.
The Sharks play Boston on Saturday.
